After 5 years of successfully growing the Southampton Half marathon into the ABP Southampton Marathon, I am delighted to announce that ABP have secured the future of the event for a further 5 years.
There was a gap of 31 years since the last Southampton marathon and when myself and the ReesLeisure team created the new route and event back in 2015.
In the last 5 years over 38,000 people have crossed our finish line, over £1million has been raised for charities and over £50,000 has been donated to over 40 local community groups who help to make the event what it is as the ABP Milemakers!
All this could not have been done without the support of Associated British Ports Southampton. A huge employer in the city and vitally important to the UK economy ABP have supported the event, the volunteers and the runners which for one day brings the whole city together. We are delighted to have confirmed a Decade of Partnership and look forward to building the event to its next stage and encouraging more people into the sport, raise more for charity and put Southampton on the map!
If you want to take part, we have a 10km, half marathon and full marathon all running on the same day Sunday 26th April 2020.
